Dear Friends of Skaters for Eugene Skateparks,

Thanks for supporting more opportunities for skateboarding in Eugene = and efforts to revitalize downtown Eugene's Washington-Jefferson Park. Plea= se help us spread the word and forward this to anyone who might be interested!

FEB 3RD MEETING RECAP:

- Parks Staff quote: "this was the largest, most positive turnout I have ever seen in all my years facilitating parks planning meetings."
- There is a ton of positive momentum right now and it is up to all o= f us to keep the wheels turning! How? See below...<= /span>

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

At the end of last meeting, interested volunteers broke = out into the following four main committees:

=3D>Design Committee
- Ensure that all interested users are fully integrated into th= e design process
- Provide the lead role in ensuring successful final design and choice of designer/builder
- Help Fundraising Committee with grassroots individual donatio= ns campaign

=3D>Events Committee
- Plan and implement strategy for obtaining giving levels and <= span class=3DSpellE>skatepark awareness for event related activitie= s
- Calendar / plan / organize / orchestrate all events
- Solicit and obtain product/service donations for auction-rela= ted events
- Event related newspaper, TV, radio, magazine coverage / flyer= s,
brochures, posters, postcards

=3D>Fundraising<= /span> Committee
- Plan and implement strategy for obtaining giving levels for t= he following main categories of donors: Grassroots individual donors; La= rge individual donors; Corporate donors
- Partner with existing community service organizations such as Lion's Club and Rotary Club.
- In conjunction with Parks Dept, decide tiers/giving levels and on-site donor recognition

=3D>Steering Committee
- Coordinate with Parks Dept. including grant applications
- Fulfill Fiscal Sponsorship obligations w/SPS & ensure transparency and proper accounting of all funds
- Obtain written endorsements and support from important public figures such as City Council, County Commissioners, Police, Representatives, Senators, Governor's office, and School Administrato= rs
- Coordinate with all other committees / press releases
